ben The moving saga continues...
Actually, I've got good news now. I stopped in at the leasing office after work today. I got my move-in date changed to September 8th. So I'll only be homeless for a week this time. The 8th is a Saturday if you want to come out and help me move Matt.
For your .jpg question. Open up any explorer window. (Double click My Computer for instance.) Click View -> Folder Options. Click the tab for File Types. Scroll thru the list for JPEG image. Select JPEG, and click edit. The actions box is what you want to change. You can add an action to open with IE Explorer, and set it as the default. Hope that helps.
And I have switched most of my utilites over. I haven't taken care of the phone service, but I got gas/electric taken care of. And I got my magazine subscriptions switched. I'll get most of the other important stuff as I send in bills and such over the next month.
mom did you think about hooking up utilities and phone line? or does the complex do that for you?
i know you will groan, but you could ask to stay with Bob and Carol for awhile. :) or Dale. i am assuming that Deb isn't an option because her sister is also staying there?
Matthew suggested that you try camping for a few weeks. That could be fun.

ben My little rental adventure is smoothing out some. I've got most of the details of my move pretty much worked out. I'll still be "homeless" for a couple weeks, but I got somewhere to store my stuff.
So I was thinking. It's a shame that I try pimp'n that great St Germaine album, and I can't use napster or something to give y'all a little sample of the album so you'll rush out and buy it. *COUGH* I mean I wouldn't want the RIAA comming down on po little me...*AHEM*
Also, I think I've decided on a cell phone. The local calling area covers pretty much anwhere I'd be calling in colorado or Wyoming, I get 250 anytime minutes and 1000 night and weekend minutes for $30 a month. Plus they have some rebates setup so I can get a Nokia 5165 for free.
Back to the rental thing, The way I think it's going to work is this. I'm going to try to have the appartment 95% packed and ready to clear out by the 25th, I rented a truck to be picked up that night, and dropped off the next morning. Uhaul has a deal where you get a free month of storage with a truck rental. Yes I asked, that does include intown rentals, there isn't like a three month rental contract, and I can get a big enough space for all my stuff. Anyway, so I'll unload the truck into my free storage locker, then stay in my apartment for the next week, and spend my time cleaning or whatever. Whatever is left in the appartment should fit in my car(clothes, maybe a few books and cleaning supplies) So when the 31st rolls around, I'll be plenty ready to jet. Then I bum floorspace where I can for the next two weeks. About Sept 15th or so I'll have to rent another truck and get myself moved into the new apartment. Whew. I just hope I'm not forgetting anything else..
ben I guess I linked to the wrong page. Here's the right one. But it is the Park at Creekside.
The thing is, I don't know when I'm moving in now. I just know I have to be moved out of my apartment on the 31st. I'm really hopeing they will let me use the garage to store my stuff, because the earliest I can move into the new place is the 12th.
But I could use some advice on picking out a cellphone. I've been looking at AT&T regional service, $30 a month, for 120 anytime minutes, 1000 night and weekend, but I don't know if that includes voice mail or not. How 'bout the phones themselves? Any suggestions?
Gotta go.
mom Or maybe it isn't Highlands Ranch?
model50s2 I can't figure out quite when you are moving. Give me some dates and I'll see what I can do about coming. Things with my job are kind-of up in the air right now. So I really have no idea what is going on
I could co dig the hover board!!!
ben I messed up. Bad.
See, this whole time I've been assuming that my lease was up on September 20th. You can probably guess what comes next..
My lease is really up August 31st.
Fortunatly I thought to double check that about 15 minutes ago thanks to an all too common bout of insomnia. So I did get a letter typed up quick that I just dropped off at the leasing office giving my 30 day move out notice. It was a good thing I checked tonight, because after reading thru my lease, no matter how many days are in a month, a notice recieved after the first isn't valid until the following month! So if for example, I hadn't thought of this until tommorrow, I would have been locked in here until September 31st.
But this still leaves me with the question of what to do for the two weeks between having to be out of here on the 31st, and not being able to move into the new place until the 15th. I'm hoping they will let me use my swanky new garage to store my stuff until move in time, which would only leave me with the dilemma of where to sleep.
Crap.
ben I just signed a "move-in" letter. It was just a letter stating that I know how much money I'll need when I move in. I imagine I'll sign the lease when I actually move in. And I did decide on a different appartment than I was orignally decided on. This one is even closer to work. In fact, I'll most likely be walking to work. Yes really. Since my car and motorcycle are just going to be sitting alot, it was a really nice bonus that this appartment comes with a garage. And a full-size washer and dryer. I'm pretty excited. I fear the next 6 weeks are going to go really slooow. (I move in on September 15th.)
Here's the skinny on the apartment complex. I got the "A" floorplan. So it's not huge, but it's much bigger than my current appartment. And I don't have much of a view either. But I didn't care enough about that to want to pay extra for it.
Actually, I was going to ask if Matt wanted to take a trip out here to help me move. I'd be willing to split a plane ticket out here. The 15th is a Saturday, so if you could get the following monday off, that would be, like, so cool.
And I'll have broadband internet, so I'm going to need help picking out a cell phone.
Sorry to hear about the weather. It's been pretty hot here, but at least It's a dry heat.
I gotta go, someone is spraying a hose in my window. Man I'm not going to miss this place at all...
mom So did you sign a lease? Tell me the address so I can look it up and find you. I told Matthew and he thinks the timing is perfect because he is planning a trip to Vegas with Rebecca and Barbie right about the time you would be moving.
It is horrible hot and muggy here again today, this is one of the hottest summers ever - I imagine you are pretty tired of me complaining about it.
Chris says her mom is still pretty sick, but still at home.
love ya lots
ben Jeez, a whole three days without a post from me.
For anyone who still wants to get me a graduation present, I present you with FUTURE HORIZONS. I just wish the light saber was still avalable...
As If I needed a reason to feel better about my geekness. Here's the actual report (it's loooong).
With the demise of Napster. (Oh come on, it's dead.) and the fact that I can't get any of the Gnuetella clients to work decently on my home connection, I've resorted to legitamate means of finding music online. I've recently been trolling thru MP3.com. And I've actually found some halfway decent stuff.
- Bitstream Dream - Sort of a downtempo ambient kind of electronica.
- The Fine Print - I think I've mentioned them before, but it's sort of fun alterna-pop. Plus the singer writes Penny Arcade
- Laziest Men on Mars - Kind of uneven, but some of the remixes they have are pretty good. I've linked to my favorite song of theirs before, but here it is again.

ben I made a big mistake today. The mistake of going to Best Buy after depositing my tax refund check. Dumb Dumb Dumb...
I ended up spending the whole blasted check. I got:
- A new cd player for my car. Granted I needed this. My car stereo has decided to stop loading CD's. And I got a great deal on it. Got a Sony CDX-M670. List price is $399, I paid $260. Of course, it was open box, and I have to get a wiring harness for it. But still.
- A network in a box ($39 on clearance) to complete my little geek experament. I tried installing it, and I think I've got it installed right in my windows box, but the Linux box is being a bit of a sticky wicket. <nudge><nudge>Get it Matt? ;)
- And as much as I hate to buy music from department stores, I picked up St Germain - Tourist and Basement Jaxx new album, Rooty. Of the two, I definatly like the St Germain album better.
Otherwise, not much is new around here. But I'm sure Dubya Jr. would be proud of me for putting that refuned tax money right back into the economy. I sure feel proud..
model50s2 thanks for posting the Xeothian stuff I have it now. and I also have 320 mb of ram yippy
I'm 15% goth, 45% Trendy, 60% Alternative I did have to guess on some of the questions because I haven't heard of the band or read the author
ben #100, BABY!!!!!!!!Whooo
I must have been drunk, yeah thats it. Or high. No It was someone else that looks like me. Some evil imposter that loves dancing. An evil twin cloned and placed here by a high level multinational shadow organization bent on world domination. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I better stop before I get myself in trouble.
(Note to self: stop playing so much Deus Ex.)
*sigh* yes I really did say I would take more dance lessons. The only explaination I can give is Deb does funny things to me. What's really amazing, is I seem to actually be liking dancing. Infact, we might even do it in public some time in the future. I mean like in a club or something. K-ripes.
I'm so indie that my shirt don't fit.
Because I'm Indier than thou.
