mom Sarah and I are surfing the web and wanted to say hello
mom Ben tells me you haven't been feeling good, but that you are better now. That marathon bike ride must have done you in! Glad you are better.
Do you think that the Matt Groening quote went up after the dance classes? I think it is wonderful that you got Ben to dance. He would never even dance with me in the kitchen!
The business next to my office is doing some construction work and sometimes it sounds like the dump trucks are coming through our walls - like now. Too bad there isn't sound on this web page - Ben, can't you "optimize" sound?
ben Sorry if you tried posting last night and it didn't work. I've been rearranging some things, and uh.. "optimizing" my code....
Yeah, that's it, optimizing...
Anyway, it's fixed again.
The SMC did a review of the Final Fantasy Movie. Of course the capalert guy reviewed it too. But I wouldn't recommend reading his review unless you want a peak into the mind of a man with way too much time on his hands.
ben Alright Matt, heres the stuff:
Xeothians are a strong and ancient race. Full grown Xeothian males average 4,000 pounds. Females average about 2,400. Both male and female stand approximately nine feet tall. Xeothians have the head and cloven hooves of a bull, with a humanoid body. Strong leathery wings extending from the back are large enough to propel these massive beings through the air. Xeothians have large canine teeth reminiscent of the now extinct Saber-tooth tiger. These jaws are quite capable of sundering flesh from the bones of weaker creatures. Xeothians resemble a cross between a Minotaur and a Gargoyle. Beyond their outwardly menacing appearance Xeothians are just as hardy internally. Xeothians have redundant internal organs and nervous systems. If one heart is damaged, Xeothians have a backup cardiac organ that is strong enough to keep them going as if nothing happened.
Despite their fierce aspect, Xeothians are now peace loving and technologically advanced with a highly organized social structure. They were not always this way. Ancient Xeorhian history is riddled with bloody battles and terrible wars. The slightest insult would mean a battle to the death. Honor was of highest concern. They worshiped the Sun as the supreme god and ruler of all. Through eons of existence the Xeothians fought with each other. They lived off of the land, with very little in the way of technological advancements. Slowly they began to organize. Their religion turned from sun worship to a worship of all things. Everything and life became secret and every act and life given was a gift. If they ate a plant, the plant gave them the gift of life and in return when they gave their bodies back to the world. Priests are the leaders of their society. Born with a gift resembling human schizophrenia, these select few have great Xeothians from ancient times insides of them. This gives the priest the knowledge and abilities these ancient Xeothian's possessed.
To honor their warlike history, the Xeothians developed a brutal form of martial arts called X-B. The basic premise is attempting to directly hit an attacker's blow, shattering whatever was being heaved toward you. It is a difficult art. Not only must the X-B fighter be able to react more quickly than the aggressor, but an X-B master must be able to find the weak point in the object before it strikes. True X-B masters spend years hardening their bodies so that a blade cannot pierce their skin.
Xeothian science and culture had already peaked by the time humans developed.
Beginning to 5000 B.C.
Xeothians found Earth in man’s infancy. They taught man their reverence for all things and to see the many gifts that everything gives to everything else. They taught man how to build, measure, guide and map according to the heavens. The Xeothians divided the world into 30 intersecting diamond shapes. They helped man build large cities and megaliths at the point of each diamond and laid plans to build more. They taught man the measurement of the universe 0.895 cm. The Xeothians left Earth and man with the wisdom, knowledge and peace it took them eons to find, promising to return.
~1200 B.C. - 400 A.D.
Upon returning the Xeothians found that almost everything they taught man was forgotten. Life was no longer valued. Man regarded himself less then nature not equals and had created petty gods to represent the forces of nature. The history of the Xeothians first coming was so distorted that they now worshiped idols made to look like bulls. The Xeothians had hope in man and left representative on Earth to bring him back to their former glory. The teachers the Xeothians left were labeled as monsters and hunted and killed. Entering human history as fables and myths. The Greeks called them Minotaur, the Egyptians worshiped them as a representative of the god Menthu-Ra, Christians said that they were evil and unclean because of their cloven hooves and yet others created a new god called Baal.
~Present
The Xeothians returned to Earth hoping to find it a great and peaceful world with reverence for all things. They did not.
Hope this is good enough.

ben Matt, Thanks for the tip, that seems to be a bug in my webpage. I'm not sure how to fix it yet, but I know what's going on.
Correction: I just fixed it.
BTW, it's Jennifer Lopez's birthday today, feel free to take the day off.
And I just emailed what I had for that xeothian stuff.
Deb 'n I had our last dance lesson last night. I must admit to being rather frustrated with my lack of coordination. But I suppose practice makes perfect and all that...
model50s2
model50s2 I'm getting warning when I logged in all the massages changed to
Warning: Offset 9 is invalid for MySQL result index 3 in /home/bjstaab/bjstaab-www/home.php on line 256
the offset changes they are numbered 0-9 thanks for the walk through
ben I survived the alley rally. Yay me. I really didn't think it was nearly as bad as I was lead to believe it was going to be. In fact, I might go so far as to say it was a lot of fun. Even, in retrospect, being doused with buckets of water. I failed miserably at spoons, but given my past performance with card games, I can't say I'm entirely suprised. And the organized games were pretty fun. Expecially since I wasn't the one being mummified. ( This consisted of the rest of the team wrapping up the "mummy" in ripped up bed sheets, then covered with this "paste" made out of who knows what. ) All in all, a pretty good time.
Matt, I think I got that xeothean stuff, but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Or my memory is not working, and I didn't get it. If it's sitting on my home computer, I probably won't have a chance to look at it until tomorrow night. I haven't finished rewriting the first one you gave me yet either. Pretty much any PC-100 or PC133 SDRAM DIMM will work in your computer. PC-66 would work, but it would be slower, and you probably can't find it anyway. DDR ram will not work. As far as upgradability goes. It depends on what motherboard you get. But you'll probably want to buy new memory with a new motherboard anyway. And with as dirt cheap as DIMM's are now, memory would be the least of my worries. But maybe you need a new monitor?
And I could try to give you a complete walkthru of how I did that level, or I could just direct you here. I have to say, that guide saved me alot of time the second time I did that level. And once you get up to the roof, don't worry about being seen, I don't think you can kill the guards, but it won't matter as much if you are seen. Unless you run out of health.
Maybe I'm not a geek!!! Nah.
One last thing, I've added the ability to change how many posts show up here. If you click the account info link on the left, there is a field that says something like posts per page. If you change that, then save your changes, you'll see that many posts the next time you come to the homepage. I'm working on getting it so you can keep looking back thru all the old posts too. Of course, I don't know why anyone would want to do that.
we are here to protect you from the terrible secret of space.
model50s2 I'm stuck on No One Lives Forever. Any suggestions for the part where you have to sneak into the guys office without being seen or killing any one?
mom Good weekend? Long weekend?
We took grandma to the Edgewater for her birthday brunch yesterday. Good food, can't beat the view, but pricey!
On another subject, I need your SS#, please.
model50s2 did you get my message about the Xeothian stuff? Another question is what kind of ram do i need? And if I get some now will it be compatable if I get a new motherboerd and processor? Ok with those questions asked I think I'm going to try and sleep now
ben TGI Friday. It's been a long week...
Thanks mom.
Here's a fun little quiz I found:
I scored a 77% alternative, 0% goth and the remainder was trendy. yay me.
mom
ben I forgot to mention. I got my final report card from college the other day. My cumulative GPA was 3.88. With something like 112 or 120 credits. It had a 2 in there somewhere.
Just because I'm sure everyone was dying to know.
mom If you have time, Grandma Lucy's birthday is on 7/22 - she will be 83. 700 Welsh Road, Watertown, WI 53098 920/261-6624.
Dale and Carol are going to bring her in and we will take her out to brunch. I am hoping that Matt can come and go to work afterwards.
ben Deb and I are going to head up to Wyoming this weekend for something called an "Allie Rally". I don't know what to think of this yet. It's some sort of family reunion. I have also been warned about something known as "spoons". I don't know if I should be scared or what.
On a different note, I just thought this article was pretty funny. And all too true.
I've been waiting for someone to come up with a good way to play mp3's in my car. Finally someone has. I just wish it was a little less expensive. And didn't require me to buy a new head unit. Of course, my cd player has started acting up again. So it might be time to replace it anyway.
Matt, I've been reading thru that Xeothian stuff, and I thought of a bunch of similarities you might want to look at. For a technologically advanced culture on earth before humans, check out HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. (That page is kind of a mess, go to the bottom and you'll find a contents button.) On second thought, skip that page and try here. The other thing that pops into my mind is Scientology. Go ahead and read thru that link. It's wacky stuff. If you care, there's a lot more weird scientology stuff at Operation Clambake.
mom We are finally getting some rain. It is sure to hatch the latest batch of mosquitoes - are you coming for a visit? The mosquitoes miss you (me too)
mom Matt - it's R e v o l u t i o n !
ben Matt, I found out a few things, but nothing definative yet. Revolution Magazine had a website at www.planetrevolution.com which is now redirected to a page on Daily Radar. Both Revolution (the magazine) and Daily Radar(the website) are owned by Imagine media.
Info on Revolution magazine itself is kind of hard to come by. I did find the following here:
As I look more, I think I have found some bad news. I think revolution magazine is no more. If it's any consolation, it looks like they purged quite a few magazines about the same time. So I guess your subscription became active just in time to be cancelled. Sorry.
I just can't leave this alone. If I remember right, Daily Radar is no more either. At least I don't think it's being updated now. And it isn't listed on imagine media's list of websites.
ben I know everyone is dying to know how the MS-150 went this weekend. Well, Deb & I finished. I can't think of anything more to say about it right now.
Except that my butt is still pretty sore...
But I'll have pictures up sometime in the future. And it's not too late to pledge money. If you want to.
Oh, and Deb, if you read this, I found out what POV means. Click here, or here. ( Or if your feeling randy, click here) to find out what.
Matt, Since you are always asking for help with the computer, I thought these instructions for defragmenting a hard drive or this guide to upgrading your video card might help. PS, you don't have to be able to read swedish. Just look at the pictures.
Those mods led me on to this. And I thought I was a nerd.
And Matt, I signed you up for a year's subscription, which I thought was for 12 issues. I'll check around on that.
model50s2 How often am I supposse to get Revalution? Cuz I've only gotten it twice
ben I've been hearing mixed reviews of Final Fantasy. Maybe I'll wait untill it hits the cheap theaters...
I don't know how many Douglas Adams fans there are here, but this is pretty cool. Of course, I thought zork was pretty cool too.
Who knew there was such a thing as nerd-core hip hop.
Huh.
model50s2 I forgot to tell you that I saw Final Fantisy. It wasn't all that bad. Ithink you should go see it cuz of the animation, that was just amazing
