model50s2 My computer fixed it's self witch is just fine by me
I did get out of the lab just fine, but know I have to go back
ben In what is surely a sign of the Apocolypse, Deb got me to go dancing with her last night. And I didn't hate it. I can't say I'm totally in love with dancing. Sorry. I'm still a little frustrated with my lack of coordination. I wouldn't say I have two left feet. Maybe more like 1 3/4 or 1 1/2. Lets call it 1 2/3's. But with some more practice, maybe I'll be able to get past the frustration of picking up the wrong foot at the wrong time, and just be able to enjoy myself. At least the instructor was pretty funny. Oh, I guess I didn't mention that. This dancing took place in a swing dance lesson. I figure if nothing else, I'm getting some good karma out of this. JUST KIDDING. I LOVE DANCING.
I better quit this before I dig myself an even deeper hole...
How bout some links:
Matt, since you're playing thru Deus Ex, I thought this article might be interesting to you. Spoiler: He doesn't like it.
BTW, I agree with some of his points, like the AI. But I did like Deus Ex a lot more than the reviewer obviously did.
And The Self-Made Critic did a review of the Tomb Raider movie. Not to sound like a broken record, but I have to kind of agree with this guy too. Of course, that's why I read his reviews. Because I like his taste in movies. At least more than I like this guy's reviews. :\
Mom, I promise I'll remember to email you that recipie tonight. Really. And the url for that new design I'm working on for fsrc is http://www.fsrcdane.org/fsrc_v3. The footnotes front page will be broken until I can get home and upload the fixed version. And the families can't wait menu just has placeholders for now until I get those pages written up. Hopefully I'll get that done tonight also. I know I went back to a pretty text oriented look, but I thought it would work better and easier as more and more features are added. It's easier to find screen space for text links than for more graphics. Just let me know if the new look is acceptable to the powers that be. If not, I can always think up new stuff.
With Windows XP slated to be released later this year, many people have been questioning the wisdom of Microsoft's new Windows Authentication Program, which requires registration of your Operating System and the components of your PC to activate Windows. This article is strangely facinating in how it breaks down how the activation number is created, and what information is really encoded. Fun Stuff.
One last thing. Remember that website I was complaining about a while ago? Well, it is a hoax. I am much chagrined.

model50s2 I have edit bottons now. I think I didn't get them before cuz I had my cookies turned off
I also mistyped the quote I'm going to go edit it now
Ok the edit bottons are working for me just fine and the quote makes much more sence now
So I got arrested in Deus Ex the guy does it and he acuses me of killing Navara. And my brother is still dead like I never helped him. So I guess their isn't much changed no matter what you do.
mom Anyway, Mike and I went to a Schmidt cousin reunion this afternoon. My cousin Gaye from Seattle is in town - she is a bicyclist like you. I told her you and Deb were going to be doing a ride on a tandem - she said watch out for "drafters" - everyone likes to catch the draft from the tandems. Just a helpful hint.
Mike and I went to APT for his birthday on 7/5. Saw Round the Moon. It was a beautiful night with a full moon. We laughed for three hours; the play was written in French around 1930, a good comedy.
One more day off and then back to work. Talk to you tomorrow night.
Hello to Deb

model50s2 I saw Snatch a couple of nights ago and I ran across a quote for you

ben Working on that next gangster movie, but you just can't get the dialog right? Check out WMOB

ben So I finally got a new computer at work. And It's pretty nice. Just for a little comparison, my old computer was a pentium pro 133 with 64 mb of ram. And it was running WinNT4. Yes really. The new one is a P3 700 or there-abouts with 128 mb of ram and Win2k. Still not as good as my computer at home. But at least we're in the right decade now. Anyway, I've been playing around with Microsoft media player and found a pretty good iRadio station. technotuner. As a bonus, it's from france. So you automagically feel cool just listening to it.
And THIS is just plain bizarro. Make sure you have your speakers turned on. Thanks memepool.
One of the sites I was saddest to see get lost in the .com implosion was True Meaning of Life. It's still there. And you can look thru the archived wisdom. But there hasn't been any updating since April.
I just tried TMOL's archives, and they seem to be gone too. Or the flaky proxy I'm going thru is acting up again. Too bad.
I also took down the Javatricks link at the top. I had left it there in the hope that I would be able to get those applets fixed. But after looking and looking, I've had to face the fact that I lost the source code for all of them, and I'm not rewritting them from scratch just for the off chance someone wants to see if I really can write a Java program. So, no-one will ever see bob the smily face solve the maze again. Of course, I doubt if anyone ever saw him do that anyway. As evidenced by the fact that I bet you're scratching your head wondering what this entire ramble is about in the first place. If this entire thing made no sense to you, just never mind. Forget I mentioned it.
Aaand, I found a condo I really liked this weekend. It's got a cool layout, vaulted celings. The building is only about 6 years old, and I can just about see my office from the deck. If I wanted to anyway. And I just got preapproved for a home loan up to $150k. Jeeze, imagine me as a home owner...
ben If you will direct your attention to the left of the screen, you will see a few new links. The account info link will let you update your information and change your password and such. The rest of the links are pretty self explanitory. The HTML help is just a quick rundown on some simple HTML tags, and what they do. If you are not logged in, you will get a prompt to login. It's not quite perfect yet. It doesn't update when you logout, but I'm working on finding a way to do that. Have fun.
You might also notice a new field in your account info called "Posts to show per page" This doesn't do anything yet, so don't worry about it.
ben My guess is this. I imagine they have to keep it sort of close to the same storyline, because the game would be too huge otherwise. So I think you will still end up in prison somehow. Like you did when you got killed. If you don't get killed, I imagine the designers will find some way to get you there. And I bet you will still meet up with Paul in the prison. However, he might be alive and give you some help, or bonus points or equipment or something. You'd think there would be some reward for keeping your brother alive.
Not really related to this, but I finished Half Life: Blue Shift in about 6 hours. Way too short. It was ok. But there wasn't much in the way of tension. No creepy feeling like there was in the original. And the ending was a pretty big let down. As cheesy as the end of the original Half Life was, at least there was some sort of closure. In Blue shift, it's just sort of over. There isn't even a big boss monster at the end. But I guess the High Definition graphics pack that is included on the disk is nice. I guess that might be worth $10. (Which is what I ended up paying for it.)
Sorry, no useless links today. =(
model50s2 I have a Daus Ex question for you. You know when you send the message and then meet up with your brother again in the apartment. Well I stuck around and we killed all the agents coming to get him. Does that make any differance? If I die in that seen I end up in a cell with nothing and a mysterious person lets me out, but that is all I know about that sinareo
model50s2 I Checked out those sites you gave he. Its kinda weird cuz some of them contradict each other. I you want something to do with your spare time I'm sure Rick wouldn't mind if you wanted to write a history for one of his races. Just email him.

ben Get enough yet? Too much? Too bad, because here are Lots 'o bulls
After reading more of that Mithras article above, I rememberd why he is associated with bulls. This might be relevent:
As the bull died, the world came into being and time was born. From the body of the slain beast sprang forth all the herbs and plants that cover the earth. From the spinal cord of the animal sprang wheat to produce bread, and from the blood came the vine to produce wine. The shedding of the sacrificial blood brought great blessings to the world, which Ahriman tried to prevent. The struggle between good and evil which at that moment first began was to continue until the end of time.
Otherwise, I just finished a pretty good historical fiction book on how stonehenge might have been built. I could send it to you if you want to read it. Last but not least, if you know how to use Usenet, you might want to check there too. If not, try here for a list of FAQs from the alt.mythology newsgroup, and I believe you can look thru all the old posts there too. Probably lots of useless info, but you might find something interesting.

ben And no, I haven't heard from anyone about a website.
Thanks for the quote mom, Maybe I should write up some sort of form so y'all can enter your own quotes. Hmmm.
And for some general info: if you want to get an empty line (like the one above)in your posts, type "<p>" where you want the blank line to show up. It stands for paragraph.
If you just want to end a line
and have the next thing you type show up on the next line
like this.
Type "<br>" like break.
And I haven't been able to find out much more about netauthority. Except that the admin, billing, and technical contacts in a whois lookup are all the same guy, and his email address is rudis@mindless.com. So I guess I'm no longer inclined to take this guy really seriously. More info, if you want it is avalable on Whois.
And no post would be complete without some more useless links.
Here is an interesting "theoretical" physics model "supported" by the "faces" on "mars". Note the sceptical quote marks. Hey, if it was true, it would be really cool, but ya know, occams razor and all that...
The Political Compass is a fun little thing. I ended up with a Economic Left/Right: -1.84 Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.34 Or, you can just look at my graph.
It's sort of like that other satirical newspaper. Only more political. And Brittish. But it's still pretty funny.
That's about all I have today.
